As Life Begins

I never thought that I would live to see
The ripe old age of just 23
Never questioned my mortality
That’s just the way I thought things would be.

The clock goes tick the clock goes tock
And where will you be when it all stops?
It’s a human thing and yeah we all pretend
Of what really is and what coulda been
As life begins so must all come to an end
And sooner or later
Everyone buries friends.

Look right there
Can you see
The empty chair of mortality
You never think you’ll suffer that loss
But that’s the price you pay
Happiness costs.

The clock goes tick the clock goes tock
And was it all worth wile when everything stops?
It’s a human thing and yeah we all pretend
Of what really is and what coulda been
As life begins so must all come to an end
And sooner or later we must attend

The funerals of friends.

One way or the other
In the ground or in the sky
We rejoin friends when it’s our time to die
But It doesn’t really matter if you’ve got the memories
And through them we know that we’ll always be.

The clock goes tick the clock goes tock
And where will you be when your shit stops?
It’s a human thing and yeah we all pretend
Of what really is and what coulda been
I don’t know what awaits me
When I no longer live
But to be afraid of death to me
Is to be scared to really live.
